Here we are again beginning a new school year!!! Now that the hazy, lazy days of summer are coming to an end, it is time to settle into your "School Routine". It's hard to say goodbye to late nights and late mornings, but routines do help us all cope with this transition. A great routine to get into or stick with is reading to your child each evening. Even with the extra responsibility that homework brings to your routine, please don't skimp on reading to your child. Reading to your child increases their vocabulary and background knowledge about the world. Enjoy a few minutes of quiet snuggle time with a great book!!

helping your child
School is coming to an end and most first graders have a brand new reading system. It will be very important for new readers to practice everyday. One fun way to practice reading with your child is to spend time in the library picking out books. (The plus side is that most libraries are air conditioned.) The Children's Librarian can help you and your child find books that are at a middle to end of grade one level. Also, it's fun to bring a big bag to the library and fill it with books for you to read to your child. Have fun and let Mrs. Beloin know the titles of your favorite books!!!
